Was just wonder if anyone can tell me how hard it would be to remove a Toad alarm that has been installed on my mk2 Golf, it has been playing around and I think it is stopping my engine from firing but I have never had any experience with alarms and by the looks of it its wired into a lot of things, including locking the doors and lights flashing when locking and unlocking the car.
I'm unsure of the the model of the alarm and I have zero confidence with removing the alarm so any help would be much appreciated

It will be usually be wired into the starter, coil and possibly fuel pump circuits.

Once you find the main alarm control box - probably tucked up behind the dash on the right hand side - just follow the thickest black wires - you'll probably see one pair spliced into the thick red/black starter wire around the ignition switch/steering column area and another pair bisecting the black ignition live wire around the same area. Snip and rejoin.

yep basically start at the brain, rip everything out thats connected to it. you'll have a few wires where insulation was bared off and alarm wires wrapped round, snip and re-insulate with tape. plus a couple wires will have been cut into which will need to be rejoined.

if you have a 90 spec mk2 with hazard switch on the dash you can pinch an uncut stalk/ignition loom out of mk3 golf in scrappy and swap it over which makes life a lot easier

thanks for the info I thought it was going to be a lot more of a ball ache to sort. the alarm has been playing about, making the doors lock when I dont press anything and the indicators flash and I would rather just take it out and put a newer unit in
