    Yep, same findings here - KR has 5mm more oil on the stick.

    Thread summary:

    Engine Dipstick part no Dipstick measuring point (ABF/9A is ref) Dipstick tube length Plastic collar part no Plastic collar position (Petrol is ref) Net effect on oil level
    1Z 028 115 611 C ~10mm more oil 182mm 028 103 663 3mm taller ~15mm less
    KR 027 115 611 B 5mm more oil 209mm* 058 103 663 (Formerly 049 103 663) n/a - datum ~5mm more
    9A/ABF 051 115 611 B (late?) n/a - datum ? 058 103 663 n/a - datum n/a - datum
    9A/ABF 051 115 611 (early) n/a - datum ? 058 103 663 n/a - datum n/a - datum
    EZ (8v carb) assume KR no data 211mm* 058 103 663 (Formerly 049 103 663) Assume KR stick so 5mm less

    * Treat as the same

    Note:

    • ABF is 16mm taller in the block, but the oil level is around the same position as the short blocks.
    • ABF oil pump picks up in sump from 5mm below standard 8v/KR position

    Any info on dipsticks/Tubes on the transverse 1.8T I have part numbers and they seem to be the same regardless of inlet side.

    Dipstick is 06A 115 611 Q, Guide Funnel is 06A 103 663 B

    Are they interchangable on the older engines? Or should i say are the metal Guide tubes the same diameter?

    Does anybody how much the abf dipstick protrudes from the steel holder tube that goes into the block?

    I have shortened the steel tube but did not take an accurate enough measurement :( this means im now unsure of how much to take of the dipstick it self!!

    easiest way forward is measure the tube from a mk1/2/3 1.6-1.8 lump, just make sure if its from a mk1 its later block with plastic guide tube like yours then compare to your shortened version
