Distributor vr6 only sparking on two cylinders

    so my vr6 is only sparking on two cylinders, it has a new coil, leads, cap, rotor, plugs. Plugged into the diagnostic it has no fault codes, can anyone help.?

    has this car ever run properly? if its an engine swap and only just been finished, whats the part number on your ecu

    I don’t know the last time it ran, I bought it as an unfinished project, I have the car about 5 years only started working on it recently, the guy before me had it about 10 years and he bought most of the bits to do the swap but never started it.

    thats the bosch number, whats the VW part number? but googling the bosch number suggests the ECU is a coilpack version which is what I suspected the issue would be :(

    Vw - 021 906 258 bk
    It would be strange if that is the case, I know the fella I bought the car off and the engine and ecu came out of the same car.

    yeah thats a later ECU for coilpack and 4 pin maf engine, with ISV and 3 pin basic TPS type throttle body. so they haven't come out of the same car, or if they did the car wasn't running properly when they were removed :lol:

    That’s why I’ve been chasing my tail for ages now haha what’s the correct Vw part no. It’s not going to be simple finding a ecu.
