I ordered a stepper control board which has arrived. I haven't had time to start investigating yet whether it's of correct type for the Haldex unit, so that's hopefully something I can do later in the week. It was worth a punt at just five quid for the board off eBay.

Okay. Kick up the posterior accepted and deserved.

I managed to find some time to try to open the unit up this afternoon, but fell at first hurdle. After removing the T10 screws, the two halves of the aluminium enclosure remain well sealed together with some kind of gasket sealant and I don't want to bash it too hard to split it. Should I try to heat it up gently?

Sambo, I see you opened yours up, so did you just use The Force or did you oven it? I'm afraid of breaking the aluminium.

Good to see you are at it Trev :)

Fear not of damaging it, there is a seal indeed and not much more but usual build up of grime/oxidation over the years makes it stuck

Just insert a sharp knife or similar in the seam and work your way round, it will come apart

If you damage ally edges a bit fear not it wont harm it at all and can be sealed up again with some dirco sealant

Anyway if you manage to get a controller going all that will need to stay in the casing is the stepper motor as internal pcb will not be used :)

I will look through my original thread and update details if required of how i'v made mine

Been lurking for a while, found this thread from a google search whilst looking for a standalone haldex controller.
I also found this whilst trawling German ebay...

I would be very interested in knowing if your idea will work Sambo/Trev as i want to retro fit 4wd with Haldex to my T4 along with a PD diesel and 6 speed box. (I like a challenge)!

If Trev manages to get electronuc board to drive the stepper motor in both directions in increments then i can modify haldex ecu so it cen be controlled manually from in car just like i do at the moment in my Lupo

    Works a treat :)

I'm looking to buy a transmission at the minute but I can't find a complete setup from the car I wanted. Do the rear diff units have different final drives in them or can I mix and match??

Trev, if you need some of the original documentation for this version of Haldex controller, I may be able to help.
