Well, I know I'm down to 5 cars now, but I got them to do first really, otherwise I would, still got an r32 mk3 to sort and that's about 50 miles away!

Good weather this afternoon, managed to swap the hood on our mgf, replaced rear rubber seal as didn't realise original was split, got one 5 years ago when bought the car and went scrapyard so luckily I still had it hung up. New red seatbelts fitted and steering wheel with red side leather, ready for summer. 20220410_154936.jpg
Golf has not been ignored, front driver door panel got trimmed in the tartan and carpet, tweeter speaker installed and refit to car, few bits to get, mainly 6mm black trim strip to hide joint between carpet lower and fabric , and wire the door lights. 20220410_181034.jpg

Well, a good Friday it is.
Fresh mot on the golf, after a new bleed nipple and tweak for emissions. Tracking sorted too.
Ready to go for a drive over the holiday weekend.

Longest run I've done today in the golf, picnic packed, dog in boot, and Mrs Dodgy and myself set off to the motorist for an afternoon look around the car meet they hold.
50 miles each way nearly, and it's first run on the motorway.
All went well, bit of a smell of warm heat shield and think the heater is still burning transit oil coating off.
I only do about 3 miles each way to work so has not really warmed up to burn everything off, plus has been stood for 6 months and only used August to October after the conversion.
Overall very pleased, need to get wheels balanced as have a steering shake at 65+, goes well, and reasonably comfortable.

Saw this there, lovely 20220424_132919.jpg 20220424_132959.jpg

Got home and decided to fit the new speakers, never had rears working and noticed a slight discrepancy when took door panel apart... 20220424_162438.jpg
    Top job by previous owner.

Upgrade kit off ebay, better as had 20% off too.

I have one original speaker grille with vw logo if anyone wants it, I've fitted new aftermarket ones as had one broken when bought the car and so now they match.

    20220424_155300.jpg
20220424_155314.jpg not quite the direct fit as suggested by the advertiser, but swapped to spades for connectors and was about half an hour job altogether.

Can now listen to radio 4 in full stereophonic bliss.

Do the speaker covers simply replace the little glove box things in the door cards? Or do you need a different door card? If they a direct fit I will grab the one and try track down another. Let me know what you want for it.

I have seen a few pics on Facebook for the meet at the motorist. Looked like a great event.

May do, I'm not sure as Allie's car had aktiv speakers in so I've not seen the glove box bit.

2 tabs on top, and a screw in the bottom.
    I'll pm you.

Sorry @Savagesam caddyboet was one post ahead, but if its no go you're next pal.
I'll find the supplier I got mine off, not 100% as speaker mounted differently.

Theres plenty around, Brendon has stacks and stacks of them. If you find any 20mm forged rods for a 20v in your parts bin that’ll be handy!
