It's an APY from a 2001 S3, and standard ecu except for the deletes that @Toyotec sorted for me.
210bhp standard, but may get played with when used to it, seems to spin wheels happily in second up to 45 now

Few bits collected for the mk2, will look properly tomorrow, as just got back from a 650 mile weekend, but just unloaded pair big bumpers, 2 light grille, seat trim, grille top spoiler- brand new and never fitted, plus a bin bag of what I got told was 'yellow shocks ' and I've only just opened one corner 20210815_212752.jpg
Spax Krypton it says, any thoughts on them? Would definitely help my wheel scrub problem.

    I drove a mk2 with a 1.8t briefly lately that's apparently 260ish bhp.
Car was on Koni coils, 16 inch Toyo Proxes. It was more power than it needed for a road car IMHO.

Think more would be silly without lsd, its 30hp less than the leon, but half the weight and no abs or traction control gizmos.
Dont know if sticking 6 speed in would help having more weight, but then that's probably geared for bigger rolling radius so could be worse.

New toyo proxes on when fitted the borbets, will see how it is when it and me settle down, only second time out in it today to be honest, will be ten miles total driven in it then.
Planning to check the coilovers and fit next weekend if get chance, new house windows are due this week (6 months after ordered) so may be diy instead :/

Been thinking of the next steps on the golf after the snagging list is sorted.
So just for my own reference really think this may be the plan ( like that will stay as is !)

    New side repeaters.
VW badged grille to replace badgeless one.
Spax rsx coilover conversion, to raise front slightly.
Headlining refurb, either recovered or replaced?
Roof paintwork addressed, probably respray as few scratches .
Recolour rear seat panels to black.

    Longer plan-
Mk3 front subframe converted to take 6 speed, leon cupra box, fabia vrs shafts, standard mk2 width wishbones and power steering rack, modified vr6 drive flanges to 4 stud. Would need electric speedo, mk3 maybe.
Big bumper conversion, have them, but need a lot of work.

    Ideas toying with-
    TT steering wheel, plus seats.
    Replacement scuttle panel.
    Door panels.

Thats good to hear. We need rolling burnout videos ;)

You’ll be wanting that LSD more than ever.

Was thinking of tt or mk6 golf wheel quite a while ago, then got mk3 early gti which is nice, but got hold of a TT one friday cheap so with the spare mk2 wheel in shed should be able to adapt horn slip ring to back and ignore airbag. Bit of a nod to the engines Audi roots too, have a set of S3 alloys too that could fit if go that way.
On my old minor I had a complete working rover airbag leather wheel, was completely contained in column unit with led in wheel to show active and correct. Modified metro/minor column and mgf stalks, not too difficult.

Spline the same, but the horn needs brass ring to match mk2 column, from what I can see anyway.
I'm sure it's not that simple but never know.
Suppose could put horn button elsewhere.

assume its same fit as mk4 golf, there was info on how to make it work on mk2/3 kicking around somewhere. iirc mk5 actually straight fit but dont know about later

Did a mk4 on mk2 caddy, but that involved airbag clock spring, think was 3 holes to drill?
Do have a mk5 wheel off Ed's polo in shed, plus an old A4 b7 one, but think they still have a plug that does airbag and horn.
I'll update the progress on this one.

Grille replaced, new genuine repeaters, stripes off.
Think it's going to be awful weather but priority is the suspension needs raising on the front end, bit worried in case theres a hedgehog in the road, dont think have enough clearance for one.

Trust me, its filthy, picture makes it look nicer.
Got the foglight switch working and ordered couple bits for the next phase earlier, rear speakers are still vexing me, may just run new wires to them from head unit if cant sort it over the next few days.
Boot light is wired, I'm still amazed at the genius of having a notch on the switch so you can turn it off if you have the tailgate open for long periods, genius German engineering.

My friend messaged me earlier asking for a photo of engine in, so quickly took this, think it's the first one of the install complete to be honest.
Also steering wheel and vent pod photo.
