Hi... ive only had my ED30 a week or so, and one thing has become apparent... the 312mm brakes are pants!

So im just after a bit of advice really. My initial idea is to get an R32 345mm kit... with some decent discs and pads, as it should work out fairly low cost.

    What would you recommend?

    Thanks
    Rich

As a cheap solution on my APR 330 Edition 30 (which incidentally I regularly ran on track) I used EBC Yellows in conjunction with RB600F fluid.

Worked a treat...great little pads but worked well from cold.....a bit hard on the discs but it's a great cheap solution.

Some don't like EBC but I've used Pagid, Mintex, Ferodo and the EBC Yellows really are good with good fluid. I've just finnished my Mintex Extreme pads and moving to cheap Greenstuffs as my MK2 is so much lighter and a friend of mine from TSR who has built same spec valver as mine really rates the Greenstuffs...certainly keeps with me under brakes on track!

I've had big brakes and great though some are replacing rotors and bells and pads are big bucks and you won't need it unless competing on quali laps on track!!

Edition 30 is a heavy car hence you can cook the brakes if used heavily.

The AP and Tarox 2 piece kits range from 1500-2k...not cheap:o.

2-piece dont need to be big bucks, only when you buy tarox and are stuck to having to buy their very expensive spares.. They're cheaper than others initially, but they will rape you for replacement parts, same as ECS do! Go for something AP based on rotors, then there are better/cheaper sources of the consummable friction components.

yellows on my s6, work well. reds were initially ok but then went "dead" pedal and did'nt wear down much but did wear the disks. I ran yellows on my ibiza once to try them, and they sucked! wooden pedal and severe disk wear (binned a pair of disks as a consequence) - I stick with my trusty DS3000 ferodo's

using greens is brave. utter shyte pad I would'nt use as a paper weight, let alone trust it on track. its an ok road pad for a normal daily driven car like my 1.4tdi arosa but they're very soft pads and dissolve when pushed..

Will see what the Green's do Bill....Yellows were certainly good on my ED30..going on Graham's recommendation...he's been using Greens in his valver as you know same spec car as CFJ and he ain't a slouch on track...he still on 256's lapping 1.22 on the Greens!!

Everyone has different experince of pads dependant on car/weight/power etc.

Going to try but if crap I will blame Graham!! Bring back Pagid FR's....they were cheap but pretty good on a budget.

1.21.2 on GPS....moved on from the tubwatch;)

Consistant 1.22 lap after lap....good solid 'reliable' fun...remember the Jetta days Bill?

Love turbo car's for the power/torque but not the issues of running them on track[:^(]

Excellent choice as they're sensibly priced when replacing discs too.....nice and OEM look too.

Where did you get the ED30 plates for the callipers....a nice touch.

The R32's work well on track with good pads too.

Get some pics up when fitted:thumbup:

You only actually need the discds and carriers though?

Could unbolt the hydraulics from your existings calieprs and bolt on the new red one, saves splitting the hydrualic curcuit?

Thanks chaps.... Got the whole kit and edition clips from daveb1970... The now retired brake guru!

I'm not sure that the GTI hoses would fit the R32 kit!
