Thought I'd post in here as this section seems to be neglected.

Is there anyone playing the Elite: Dangerous Beta on here? I'm currently flying around on my own but it would be nice to have some combat practice with 'real' players. Better to learn tactics now than take a beating from a 12 year old when the game finally goes live and there are "real" credits at stake..

Anyone up for a bit of PvP action?

PC only at the moment. Remake of a classic 80s game - flying around in space, trading, exploring, shooting stuff. It's sort of the original Eve Online.
I don't normally do games - don't have a console, have never played Battlefield! Elite might be a bit too slow-burn for console people, but I remember playing it as a kid and have been waiting 30 years for a follow-up.
Pretty trailers and stuff over at http://www.elitedangerous.com.

I used to love playing Privateer as a kid, but I'm too caught up playing World of Tanks at the moment for a new game [:$]

Oh my god oh my god oh my god ... I just watched the video ...
    Not a cobra mk3 I'm sight tho ...
Do you still have to dock by matching your revolutions to the space station ??
I soon tired of that and got the docking computer !
I was playing elite and elite 2 on my PC a few months ago

You will be seeing me online tomorrow

What's more impressive is that most of that video is taken from in-game play.. that's what it looks like NOW.
The Cobra MK3 is there, but it's not the default ship. You'll need to make 120K credits to buy one..

Yes you do, but it seems easier than I remember. But you now get to go through the Letterbox and inside the station itself and then land on an assigned landing pad, avoiding the other traffic. Docking computers right now are a bit buggy and liable to crash your ship!

I revived my BBC Model B and played it on that a little while back!

Be aware that it's Beta, not complete and subject to changes. It's getting fun now, as people are amassing vast amounts of money and just doing silly things as there aren't any consequences yet - any progress you make now will probably be wiped on the next major release to level things up for newcomers. If you do buy the Beta and find yourself getting picked on right at the beginning, switch to Solo mode so you can get the hang of it, earn some credits trading (it's worth using a trading tool to speed things up) and once you've armed yourself up a little better switch back into regular Online mode.

    I believe its a 64.

I had an Amstrad 464 (with colour monitor! :o)

Pretty sure I had one of those Zip sticks too. Certainly looks similar, except mine had a red collar and buttons.
