dont quote me on this but I think this can happen if you have the wrong fuel pump relay fitted? since there is no ecu to handle the priming. what symptoms is it getting? Maybe you should start your own thread, this could get confusing

How would it start then, if the main line is in a jar? Seriously, stick to whatever it is you work at, and don't give f*cking useless advice...

No need to be a pr*ck mate, he was actually giving advice on checking if the fuel pump was working, NOT about the engine starting.

If you spent as much effort learning to read as you did being a d*ick to people, you might have noticed that

    Right,

So i've been testing away today...
Definitely getting power to the coil and dizzy.
I have gone and bought a new HT lead between the coil and dizzy and some new spark plugs cos mine were black!

After doing so, DEFINITELY getting a spark - had the plugs out of the block while i tried to start.
Also, definitely getting fuel in, as soon as i took the fuel line off it ****ed petrol everywhere.
Stuck the hose in a bottle and turned the engine on. Fuel went in! Started the engine (or tried to) and more fuel!

So the fuel and sparks are there, but still not starting!!!

I'm thinking it must be one of the leads i photo'd on page 1, but honestly there are no more sockets on the engine! Well, apart from one two pin socket on top of the gearbox, but i'm assuming that's just the reverse sensor?

Anyhow, the only other thing i can think of is the timing? If the timing was drastically out, then i'm guessing that the engine wouldn't start? Although this engine did come out of a runner....

Anyway guys, sorry for the essay, but if anyone can help, would greatly appreciate it!!!
    AAARGGGHHHHH!!!! i HATE cars!!!

double check your sparky lead positions on the rotor arm, turn engine over to TDC on the cam sprocket and make sure lead #1 is where the rotor arm is pointing, then put them on in order: 1 3 4 2 ANTIclockwise ;)

This will probably sound like a thick question, but how to i turn the engine over to TDC?
That stands for Top Dead Centre or something yeh?

ok, worked out how to check the dizzy timing.
All looks spot on! Still no starting engine though.

I've decided it might be something to do with the oil pressure switches?
Basically the oil warning light is constantly flashing on the dash.
Would this stop the engine from starting?

It has disappeared a couple of times after trying to start the engine a few times, but the engine still doesn't start. Just checked the connectors for the pressure switches, but they both appear to be fine.

The only other thing i noticed is that there's a small nozzle coming out of the ECU which looks like it should have a small hose on it going somewhere, it's next to where the main ECU loom plugs in.
I've got nothing connected on here, should i have and where should it go?

if you have spark fuel air and compression it should start.
The only other variable is timing.

How did you check your ignition timing?
At TDC was the rotor arm pointing at or close too the notch mark on the dizzy?

I assume your happy that the static timing is ok(head to block).

I only really checked the timing on the rotor arm.
I basically used the long screwdriver in spark hole 1 to check TDC, and then checked where the rotor arm was on the dizzy which was connecting with number 1.

you need to run a vacuum hose from the inlet manifold to the ECU, that will cause it to not start :)

Oil pressure switches have nothing to do with it, and if you think about it they're working fine as funnily enough when the engine isn't running you have low oil pressure ;)

so you checked it once the screwdriver had stopped rising and the dizzy was pointing towards the marker and the dizzy is turning and turning clockwise pointer in the top left hand side and all earth are tight is the starter turning the engine over?

I assume that it runs from this small nozzle on the inlet:????

Yeh, but what could it be?

It's getting fuel, it's getting air (as far as i know), and the engine turns over, and it's getting sparks, so i don't know what else!?!
