    Hey guys,
My car is idling really badly sounds like its constantly hunting even when hot. When its cold it might cut out when i come out of gear and the revs drop, It might do this once or twice then not again. I've just changed the plugs and leads and the breather pipes coz they where split. Has anyone got any tips or Ideas. The car is a MK3 8v Golf GTI.

    Cheers for any help

Have you clean all of the inlets with carb cleaner? Check the air mass sensor. I think mk3 have em.

Clean out the throttle housing, there will be a layer of oily gunk around the butterfly, I use gunwash (used to clean out spray guns)

    Things to check:

    1. General gunge around the throttle butterfly.
    2. Wiring to the throttle position sensor
    3. Dizzy cap and rotor arm
    4. I know you just did the breather pipes, but check all the vacuum hoses.
    5. Chuck a load of fuel injector cleaner in the tank.
    6. Fuel filter.

My money is on the throttle position sensor.

    Simon.
