You should give one a try, I love our PD150 bora. 6 speed box too. I still have the ABF mk2 for fun in the corners, as admittedly the bora is a bit of a boat and will stay that way as its the family wagon. You can always peel the letters off the boot they're only stuck on
aye even may 115 gt tdi would blow a 8v gti into the weeds they pull like a train no point it over revving it just change as john said you have 6 nice and tall gears and lots of torques more than my 3.2 it is a different mind set i'll give you that worth having a look to see if you could get on with one
I have tried oil-burners. We were impressed with a Fabia we hired last year. But. I know 8V motors and I am too old to learn about oil-burners. They are too complicated. I do not want turbos or injector pumps. They make funny noises. They pollute. Performance wise the GTI has more go, and stop, than the Audi 100 Avant due to being lighter and having better brakes. We have no difficulty passing everything that we need to on the twisty stuff around here. (I bought an in car camera for 20 in Bahrain last Dec. I intend to fit it before we break the to show Elaine driving the Audi superbly and quickly.)
fair enough, im sure they're fine so long as you accept the fact that vw really, really shouldn't have badged them as a GTI. it brings shame to the GTI badge
What about a V5? Really worried about buying a 2.0L now. I really can't face having a car that drinks oil. V5s don't have turbos so are they worth looking at? I know, 5 cylinders and 20V, but so is my Audi Super Car.
I would give one a try for sure, from what I have seen form people who actually own em they're a really under-rated motor
