right, after all the messing about/money/getting stressed etc,my rado g60 is backfiring in the inlet manifold again.

quick rundown:where the feck do i start? [:x]

after taking it off the road for full blend and other shit as well as a stage 5 sns chip,it ran well for half a day and started doing the above.

ive replaced pretty much everything i possibly can,got it running ok with another ecu and the old superchip.had the timing set to 6deg tdc with bts disconnected.

no backfiring in the inlet but an intermittent flat spot at low rpm and also at around 4krpm.

got a replacement sns stage 5 chip, put it in and the problem is back [:x] ive checked the c.o on my gas analiser and its bang on 0.5% at tickover.

i dont know what to do tbfh. [:x] [8(]

will the ign timing need setting again?

shall i take it somewhere? for what etc?

    i dunno.

    [:^(]

    cam timing still spot on.

will the new chip have adjusted the ignition timing?

im feckin sick of talking/thinking about it tbh.

im gonna go crack a beer [:x]

Crack one for me too mate:p

One thing i DO remember about my scirocco was that there was a mark on
the crank pulley that i kept lining up when doing the cam timing, which
turned out NOT to be the TDC mark, i have no idea if it was there from
the factory or if it was made by some half wit since.

Take one simple engine, add a supercharger and things get very complicated it seems.

if all else fails try a fag lighter, held close to the fuse box ;)

I`d try 1.5 co (or whatever 500 ohms on the co-pot gives you), inlet manifold poppng can indicate a lean mixture. Have you tried another set of injectors in it, or checked the injector wiring?

1.5 would be too rich for a cat car wouldt it?? do you trust your meter 100% ?

i always tested mine on mot tester at work...was always real low as standard and with various chips

see if you can get it okay in standard form

about the c/o pot...tbh ive tried mine in loads of settings, never made it pop/bang or anything wierd at all

ive tried it bang on 500ohms keith but it puts the mixture out, havent tried any other injectors, and the injector wiring looks pretty good,i know it can go hard with being where it is.

tis a snap on meter, always used it on the 16v webered mk1 with no probs.

i dont run a cat, havent for a good while before the problem appeared [8(]

    cheers guys.

steve? the standard chip has died while ive had this problem,i dont know what caused it tbh.

and what exactly does the co pot do if the lambda controls the mixture? [:s]

even if you have no cat...a cat car wouldnt be designed to run 1.5%

not too sure on the c/o pot..but if you go wide open throttle it will run of the chips set map...cruising would be on the lamda... i know bilal has told me the c/o wont compensate for a bad chip etc

have you asked on vwvortex g60 forum

not asked on the tex, they confuse me those americans  may be worth a shot though?

the problem is now only on tickover/no flat spots anywhere through the rev range.

from cold start its lumpy, the revs rise, then the backfiring starts...

happens for a bit and suddenly clears.

but even when warm its not 110%,ticking over rough and the revs slow to come down etc...

ill try find the old vid.

    click for vid

lemme know if it dosnt work.

forgot to mention, the isv seems to suck lots while this is happening, but im sure the isv is fine.

it was running superb before i put the replacement sns in,apart from the flat spots.

I was just thinking the same thing GVK, i just changed my distributor and the timing is a cock hair out and im getting exactly these symptoms, It can be fixed so easy too by turning it slightly, could also be a duff plug/lead on its way out, ive made a massive discovery today, check all the stupid little stuff first, condition of contacts etc, not doing this about 5 times has cost me close to 700 quid for replacement bits i didnt really need, check the dizzy mate and good luck
