The story so far My 1992 Alpine White VW Golf GTi 8v had been locked away in the garage for 2 years, and last year's Covid lockdown presented me with a great opportunity to get cracking with it. I purchased this car with many non-standard features, and am slowly rebuilding it back to how VW intended, The main non-standard item still to fix Is the fact that the previous owner converted it from Manual to Auto. Since owning it, I have carried out the following work Ripped out the old non-working alarm/immobilizer, and installed a new immobilizer Rebuilt the entire suspension to return to standard height (it had a complete lowered setup), new shocks, springs, bump stops, bushes etc Installed 4x BBS RA375 wheels with complete set of new rubber on each corner Installed new brake discs and pads on all corners Installed new Fuel pump accumulator and mounts, fuel pump and filter, as well as new fuel pressure regulator and vacuum hoses Full engine service, including swopping old cork rocker gasket for upgraded rubber option New Tie-rod ends and CV boots MFA computer sent away and fully refurbished by BilTechnik (Top service) Engine temp senders (both the blue and black ones replaced) New radiator, heater matrix and water hoses installed, including new water hose engine block flanges Headlight wiring loom complete with new relays upgrade Tailgate struts replaced New badges front and rear New side and front indicators swopped for clear versions Sunroof wind deflector removed stripped re painted and re-installed complete with new deflector lifter arms as the old ones had corroded away Fuel tank mounting straps stripped and painted New pedal rubbers and mats New Sony Stereo fitted and new Hertz Diece speakers mounted in front doors and dash, new speaker grills all round, small Alpine Sub connected to new Vibe Powerbox micro Amp in boot Various NOS panel trim clips and screws installed, E.G. I have a new Windscreen seal, and a windscreen on order, as the original one has a small crack in 1 corner As usual the drivers seat base bolster is worn through, I have a NOS foam replacement, and just waiting for the rainbow cover to come down Exhaust, it has a boy race back box (which back in the day I would have loved), I have a replacement stock item to fit Dynamat the interior Replace the brake lines and hoses Replace the engine mounts Replace the water pump and thermostat and whilst at it the belts Attack the bodywork
