Thanks, I presume there’s no issue blanking off the two unused ports?

Nope, often did it, you have to even when fitting a 16v cylinder to an 8v. Obviously you need to bleed them before closing them fully.

if you buy new 22mm master from VW it would be a 4 port and is supplied with 2 blanks. aftermarket often come with the blanks as well. otherwise either use bleed nipples or source blanks from VW/ebay

Thanks for all the advice folks.

I have a pair of blanks on the way from vw heritage.
Will probably go with the trw transporter master cylinder.

Need to remove the servo for a refurb first.

Maybe this is my problom! Never thought to bleed the blank port, I only have one port blanked though being a corrado.
I didnt remove any calipers to bleed, never have had to do that before? I used a pressure bleeder and vacumn at each corner also , haven't tried the pedal method as I didnt have a willing participant to hand

usually dont need to remove calipers but it can help get rid of any stubborn bubbles, helps to pre-bleed calipers as well if you're fitting them empty or have drained down system completly

just fill them with brake fluid on the bench before you fit, a syringe and an old cut off brake hose is handy for this job (insert syringe into the cut end of brake hose and fill caliper till fluid comes out the bleed nipple) with the rear calipers make sure you havent wound the pistons all the way in as far as they can go, you cant bleed them like that
