Just bought a new headliner, black rather than the original grey my driver came with. Plastic parts are to be sprayed black easily, The bit I'm unsure of what to do with is the inner trim/seal that fits around the aperture for the sunroof on the headlining as it's grey now. Will probably end up painting or dying it, but there was someone selling black (rubber?) Ones on ebay for about £20, I've messaged but no response as now says out of stock. Any alternative anyone can recommend? Just ordered a new outer seal, but can't see inner ones anywhere. Disappointed in myself. Cheers D
That's what I thought, I've got some leather dye on its way to try and colour the yellow on my back seat so may try that, thanks Phil.
Might be worth trying Gtechniq C4 trim restorer to restore the blackness. It's pricey stuff and intended for use on black plastic trim but I've had surprisingly decent results on black rubber too. While applying to my GTi's grille I accidentally got some on the red border and was amazed at how it improved that, too. Still looks good a year later. Well worth the price. I think I used an entire 15ml bottle going round the car and immediately bought another. Apparently has a short-ish shelf life of ~3-4 months but I used it up swiftly enough to experience how or if it actually degrades. For prep I bought a pack of IPA wipes to clean all surfaces before treating with the C4.
just go to various mk2 breakers, all gti ones are black and they arent exposed to the elements so you wont struggle to find one. pay no more than £10
private_collection on instagram has them, shipping is about £30 so would be an expensive one. Worth a look anyway just to see the unobtainium parts he sells
Just been quoted 26 Inc Post for 2nd hand in UK. I'll try the leather dye then go from there I think.
Presume it's a clear solution then? Similar to the armorall stuff, Mine is pale grey now so want to turn it black.
what about solutions finish when applied with a cloth it turns that black. As well as your hands if you get it on them. I have not tried it out on soft items.
A common occurrence indeed - I thought Dave had some faded rubber. Agree that the C4 wouldn't do much for felt - thanks for keeping me in check.
Then can you tell the specialist breaker I phoned yesterday please @rubjonny, they obviously haven't had that memo.
