    Good evening.
    Engine is a TT 01 225 in a mk3 golf

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

coolant temp sender isn’t very old and was from vw.
Maf was new a few years ago and was also genuine one.
I’ve put some injector cleaner in the tank.

Could the IAT sensor cause a issue like this?

any thoughts on this would be great

    thanks

first step is get it scanned for codes, my first thought would be plugs, coilpacks and coilpack wiring

    Good morning,
Sorry forgot to mention. No codes stored.
Plugs also not done many miles, maybe 2000.
I’ll check wiring when I get a chance at weekend
    Many thanks

assuming its DBW VW have a repair kit for the coiplack wiring itys such a common fault. next step if no codes go into ecu measring blocks and watch the sensor inputs in real time, you can also set vcds to log them over timeso you dont have to stare at screen while driving which obviously is Very Bad

things like intermittent/faulty temp senosrs be obvious in this mode, pedal position, boost requested vs actual, throttle position, map and maf all good values to watch

Hi thanks for the reply’s john
I was thinking about purchasing vcds.

    Been looking into this evening.
Looks like I can read the blocks in the lite version?
I’ve got a £80 cable for connecting the transit van to computer. Hopefully that works for this.

You can only read limited blocks in lite unless you buy the license , which used to be $99

Lite uses the cheap KKL cable which is cheap off the bay of E.

The full versions costs £225 from Gendan, which is what I have but you can only do 3 vins, mines up to the limit which I need to sort!

vcds lite will probably be enough for this, iirc the main blocks you care about are in the 'free' zone but see how you go

Thank for the help. I was trying to figure that out.
I’ve downloaded the lite version and tried with my cable with no luck.
Have ordered a kkl cable from eBay.
Will probably need a new laptop battery to if I am to log a run…
    Problems leading to more problems
Anyways thanks for the help chaps

1.8 T Boost block is 115 and lite doesn't show that, depends what you want to look at I guess.

I've always had laptop powered by the car via 12v adapter when logging / tuning.

Probably better buying a 12v adapter if you are going to log, some of mine have been 3hrs+.

Gvk, I’ve got the cable on the way. I’ll see if I can even get set up and figure out how to use it effectively first.
I’m hoping I’ll see some obvious fluctuating number in the first few minutes of driving and solve it. if not more practice and maybe the full version??

keith, good idea! May well be cheaper than a battery too at a guess. Like I say, my issue seems to be in first few minutes of driving so I hope not to be logging for hours!
