Is it worth having a full list of abbreviations?

    MAP
    WOT
    TPS
    even ITB, NASP
    etc

... it can all get a bit much if you're not quite in the know.

Just an idea? If someone wants to run it, please do and I'll ditch this opening post :)

I think MBT is actually Maximum Brake Torque, i.e. MTB timing if you're talking about spark timing.
Sorry to be pernickety Toyotec, I don't know half of the other ones in that list [:$]

Actually means the same thing. MBT timing is where maximum torque is achieved for a giving A/F. Increasing the spark angle beyond this minimum does not increase torque any further and will only lead to combustion instablity.
I am not aware of the term "MTB"however.

Sorry, meant MBT, got mountain bikes on the brain. If we're being really accurate though, minimum isn't the best way to describe it though, since it's just a point.

it isn't just a point though, it usually rolls over the peak, so you set the timing at the minimum for best torque, since there's no benefit in going any earlier.

is there a way for certain abbreviations to link to a "speech bubble" giving the meaning of it - like these free forums do for advertisements?

if it is too hard don't worry about it!
