Just out of interest whats the smallest diameter hole that would be needed for the shift rod going through the bulkhead and would it be easy enough to fit some sort of boot to go round it to stop anything coming back into the cabin?

One of these would help me a lot due to the fact i could then run a retangular center box instead of a round one so it doesnt catch on anything.

There's an easy answer to that...a boot comes in the kit to seal off the bulkhead hole.

Im guessing to clear an exhaust?

Yeah it's a bit too close for my liking at the moment.
Superb bit of engineering there. Will be looking to purchase one of these in the future

    We try Mike...

In all honesty I have my fabricator to thank for turning it into a production reality, could'nt have been done without him.

"ALL" competition inspired MK1's "need" one Mike...

I'll have one for October please Jason :)

Just to make sure, it clears the heater matrix on the bulkhead?

A quick gearchange makes a world of difference when racing. I was comparing telemetry of two drivers at the weekend and it was worth a couple of mph by the end of the straight... so its quite a good value way of finding a few mph's. Not to mention avoiding selecting the wrong gear on downshifts.

    Cant wait to try it!

I'll check the heater clearance for you Sam.

I'm confident you'll more than like it. I'd say it's virtually impossible to wrong slot a gear with it as it's so effortless to use.

That'll be interesting to see if there's a lap time reduction.

    Great.

Yeah, its quite clear to see the difference.

Same exit speed from last corner, same gradient on speed and rpm....
Then a quicker gearchange making a difference by the end of the straight (identical cars/set-up)
You can see the time taken to change gear by how long (and by how much ) the driver releases the throttle... and watching the on-board footage.

Most improvement will be coming from me as a driver at the moment, but I reckon the gear linkage will help loads!

No afraid not... It's for the MK1 020 5-speed only...

There are indeed others in the planning stage.

A rod conversion to replace the cable change has indeed been talked about, but it would be car specific. .Mk3 Golf. .Corrado etc.
