    Petrol's nearer 4 a gallon

    85p x 4.55 litres in a gallon = 3.87. So he's down about 24mpg

You should get over 30 from a digi unless you rag the a r s e off it and do 90+ on the motorway at all times

I pay about 95p a litre here, only the best 97+ stuff for me! Maybe thats why it drinks it so much
I do rag it round a fair bit, but not that badly I'm sure [:s]

Mine gets a hard life but I never do long journeys so never worry about mpg. Although my office is relocating later this year and i'll have to travel a bit more so I may wise up yet.

97 doesn't really make a difference in older cars, i've found its only good in the driver if you wanna do 110mph on the M3 but for local drivng or sensible speeds go for 95;)

oh yea..... think i pay about 87/88 pence per litre for 95 were i live, and 97 is about 95/96 pence. but thats London for yah[:^(]

I pay 88.9 pence a litre for 99 ron petrol.
In my 91 16v i get about 90 miles for 10 in summer and about 70-75 in winter.
Thats taking it easy and caning it a little.

Yeah but a digifant MK2 isnt 'an older car' it has a knock sensor so the ECU can advance the timing to take advantage of higher octane fuel :)
Besides, VW recommend that the K-Jet engines are run on 97 RON anyway to get the best efficiency, plus they have no knock sensor so don't run well on cheap fuel unless the timing is retarded to suit ;)

oh no... i meant my 1600 driver its a car so theres not much fuel optimisation going on there, but theres a slight difference with the digifant like you say so i tend to go for 97 even at the higher price, as it can increase my mpg by =2/3mpg:)

The point was that he's using too much fuel, so the car's not right. This also means it's probably down on power. If he fixed it, not only could he get the car to go faster, but it would pay for itself too!!

So... at the risk of getting off topic, did you try any more fixes on your digipants? My money's on the AFM spring, if everything else seems right.

I'm just putting the slight power loss I ave down to it having left the factory with 8 valves less and only an 1800cc lump. ie. I've just got bored/used to it.

I did a run there on a stretch of road I use as a benchmark. Roundabout up a big hill to a bridge and use the bridge as a marker to guage speed. Got 85mph by the time I reached the bridge which is 2 mph faster than I've ever got, must be down to the cold weather. Hoping for 90+ when the 2.0 goes in.

(forgot to say, Private road and all that....)

sorry for going of topic.. I'll still be running digi with the 2.0. Come to think of it, I've never actually driven a Kjet.
