As everyone predicted mine were mulch but I managed to get them out. I am going to replace with stainless steel ones, what size are they, want to make sure I get exactly the right size so I dont screw up the precious housing. Cheers
Beat me to it!! ..or Stainless pozi head No 10 (4.8mm) x 1inch (25.4mm) or 1.25 inch (31.75mm) using a washer to make it about 30mm long. These look exactly like the originals, either 25mm or 32mm long at £1.50 or £1.65 for 5. If you want 30mm, get the 32mm and grind off 2mm. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/No-10-4-...485903&hash=item33952ba343:g:vckAAOSwxH1UELMX
chgeck housing very closely around screw holes, the screws expand and split the casing if you're unlucky
Those at the link look good. I got all mine from https://www.accu.co.uk/en/ I used SHP30-5-30-A2. The key is they are 5 x 30mm and have their "Plastite" (now Polyfix) thread, which is very close the VW original one. I chose A2 stainless and Torx but you can pick anything you like, their range is vast. They fit perfectly and don't need a washer or anything
Screws arrived but I think the shaft is slightly larger so dont want to risk splitting housing. Anyone know where i can get the original VAG ones?
Are they the eBay ones on the Accu? NK auto parts in Greece (eBay) and OemVwShop (Slovakia) have them. Not sure if there is anyone closer
Could cut them down a tad worst case? VW still sell the screws, N 10404701 at 52p+VAT. spec is 5x30 the difference is random spelling errors is part of my charm, so I get away with it
The ones I got we're maybe 0.5 mm too long, but that was just due to the spike on the end. They threaded in nicely but needed a screwdriver after the first few turns
