Look after your pneumatic die grinder! I didn't and had to re-build it.

    Well folks.
I dug out my die grinder which has been stored in its plastic case for many years.

Would it spin? Would it hell as like!
I stripped it to find all of the vanes were stuck in the rotor!
I am sure I would have sprayed inside with WD40, but I guess that after 40 years, even in its case, humidity had got in.
Lots of condensation in my shed!

So. It was uber difficult to get the vanes out, they are a tight fit without corrosion.
I eventually managed it and lapped them up on a diamond sheet.

Spins up OK now, but I need to buy oil for the oiler on my compressor!

The filter/lube is from Aldi. Again I could not get the correct 10mm pipe to 1/2" BSP thread so I had to modify the fittings by brazing 2 together with silver solder. Pipe fitting drilled out and BSP fitting filed down to fit the drilling.

How do you get on with air usage with that compressor?

I used to have a bigger compressor in the UK, but I left it at the farm for my brother-in-law, as I did my floor mounted drill press.

This one is not really big enough for sustained usage with the die grinder.
It kicks in within a few seconds.
But, for me it is OK as I am in no rush.

For blasting it is better and kicks in after about 20 seconds.

I have not yet tried in with paint sprayers.
I will be doing so when Elaines' 25J is back on the road and I can work on my EV.
I'd be doing the EV if not for the 25J disaster.
