Hi all I have a mk3 16v gti that isn’t starting it’s sparking once or twice then losing all spark We have swapped out -distributor -ignition coils -spark plugs -leads -ecu relay -crank sensor -checked all earths and grounds
get diagnostics plugged in, check the codes and also read the ecu measuring blocks to see sensor inputs in real time. in particular look at engine speed, it should go up while cranking. if not crank sensor signal isnt being seen. On an ABF I looked at a while had no spark, checked it all over and looked at the new crank sensor that had been fitted by a mechanic. once I felt around the hole I pulled out a chunk of old crank sensor which was stopping it sitting fully home so sensor couldnt quite pickup signal from the pickup ring.
