Hello, I am new in the forum and I have registered to be able to continue in this post.

The Swap that these making is IMPRESSIVE
I congratulate you for it.

I am admin of the Club VW Golf Spain and there they are lately also making enough Swap.

One of the things that has gotten me the attention is the adaptation of the electric power steering of an Vauxall (Opel in Spain) Corsa.

Could you explain like it should be made so that it works correctly??.
It is something that I find tremendously useful.

    Tks, regards

    hi there
now your testing my memory lol
looking at the pic below the bracket on the side of the column is the original corsa bracket. on the black line i angle grinded off and welded a piece of metal 90degrees to it with two holes in it to bolt into the lower column mounts on the mk1.

now taking the original mk1 rack chop it off just below the bracket where it bolts onto the upper column. then chopping part of the tube off as you see in the pic below as the inside diameter is fractionally too small and the end of the column what sticks out rotates as well and then taking the corsa bracket again and welding that onto the end of it for mounting to the column

    some general pics

now connecting the corsa column to the mk1 rack i drilled out the little rivits on the corsa shaft just after the first universal joint so the second universal joint came away what i slung in the bin. the chopping the one joint off the mk1 steering shaft what then fits nicely into the corsa one get it all in car to get the length tack in place in car then take out and weld up nicely.

now doing the top half if i remember correctly wat i think i did was chopped off the shaft coming out the top of the rack leaving a couple of inches and the same off the top part of the mk1 column shaft making sure it was at the correct length get that wrong could have all sorts of problems but you do have a bit of flexibility on the steering lock.

sorry i dont have any pics of them

for control units obviously you need the original corsa control box which i think is originally bolted to the rack and you also need another control unit (which i got from http://www.rallywiz.com ) was also very nice as your could variate the sensitivity of it i find i have it wound all the way down as it seems to good and then wind it up a smigin when parking to give you that bit extra.

the one only problem is the bit what sticks out the bottom of the corsa rack what you can see in the pic below happens to also be where the bottom part of the dashboard sits so you would have to cut a hole in that piece and let it stick through or do away with that storage space and just smooth it off

hope this is some help to you

    up date

have been doing a bit more tig welding decided i didnt like the swirl pot i had as the mounting of it wasnt brilliant so i decided to make my own one up which i could mount from the top.

got some other things planned for the near future also upgrading my ms2 to ms3X and have a bit of a dabble with fully sequential and a bit of VVT i think i will be calling on a little friend of mine for help i can see again ;) lol
also thinking of some means of adjustment on the back wishbones to alter the toe angle maybe replacing the ends of the wishbone arms with rose joints dont really want to use off centered bushes really what do people think?
