My mate has a '90 mk2 1.3 cl, that he rescued and is doing a rolling resto to. Recently the pin in the dizzy cap and the rotor got funk and basically ate one another.
New cap, rotor, recently new plugs and leads, away for a spin... And it stopped. Towed home, took him a few days of looking, tried a new coil, but no spark until eventually he cleaned out the hall sender area and it fired up! And ran for a minute. Since then it's being doing the same. Runs, then cuts out dead, could be 20 secs, could be 5 mins. Wiggling the plug for the Hall makes no difference.

I should add, until the rotor got chewed, it was running sweet as a nut.

Any suggestions folks? He's losing faith, hope and interest. He had basic tools and a multimeter, but no compressor or the like.

Is there any spark from the king pin lead at all when it cuts out?

Not sure Ed, I don't think so, there definitely wasn't a few days ago.
