ah if this is the case, i might just chop the back of the guage off, make some changes and then re-glue it back together, nobody will see that part.

Thats a shame, although I'm sure you'll soon forget about the delay once you have it back, looks like a very clean example and they're doing a proper job

yeah me neither, its only the near side that needed any work, the jacking point is being replaced at the same time as there were a couple of tiny holes there, thought i might as well get it all done. I guess its from the road salts

I decided to take the turbo off to give it a once over, it is almost 20 years old after all!

there is the slightest play on the shaft, nothing that concerns me and the turbo has performed faultlessly in my ownership. The hot side does have a hairline crack though

So.. it would be a shame not to replace / upgrade it while it is off and i know its got an issue. I could just get another k03 and probably be dissapointed with myself later down the line. A K03s would make the next logical upgrade and take the car to about 230bhp region and most likely be the perfect setup for me.... or bigger turbo (K04) and more hassle, i dont think thats worth the bother.
At least with a K03s it will run fine as it is and i can drive it to get it mapped later on.

So anyone got a K03s for sale or know of a good place to get one? refurbished is fine..

I took the manifold off, ported it a little and then put it back with a new gasket. while i was there i ckeaned up the rear of the engine and painted it with engine enamel. nobody will see it, but i know its been done and is tidy.

Took some time over the weekend to get things moving on the re-build.

I needed to move the loom bung further along as the loom will be going through a new hole near the inspection hole for the subframe bolt ont he passenver side. It will be completely internal then.

the only option was to wrap it tight with electrical tape and lube it over!

MAF plug cables need chtting and re-doing at the ends. So i've ordered some new terminals and will make good. The MAF cables will also be extended to account for running the loom up the chassis leg

just bear in mind 3, 5 & 7 are on the X relay so go dead while cranking plus you might prefer to monitor the main ignition feed on 8, 9 or 11 as its more related to the engine side. but then again by the time you wire up a 20v with relays theres not a lot of ecu feeds on the ignition live rail tbh. you could wire up a switched live to a relay and run the relay output to the voltage gauge to give you an idea of overall load on the battery from all your consumers

wire bundles arrived for replacement of a few loom wires end to end, extending the MAF was the big one but deceided to replace some tired wires anyway.

carpet under lay also got picked up, its a backed wool, so it should do the job nicely

Where did you get all your wires and terminals from?

i have also ordered hundreds of terminals from China as they were mega cheap, so i'll let you know how they are when they arrive.

the good thing about the site that i ordered from is that they have nearly all the colour schemes, so the wires are a direct match

Got excited and made up the replacement under lay bits lastnight, just used the old parts and stencilled around them.

I used some insulation wool that i have to replace the thin and flimsy insulation where the dash sits

I used spray on contact adhesive in patches to secure the exhaust tunnel insulation and onto the dash top. if the dash makes any rattling sounds i'll be amazed!

firewall insulation cut and i'll put that in today, then i can get the heater installed.

Not sure if i should order up and fit the window now or have it be one of the last things i do
