Did look at Ford seats late last year as was looking for a van, and seems prices vary around the country, are focus ones similar size, as they pop up cheaply.
The e90 bmw m seats also crop up reasonably, e91, 92 but mainly 4 door so no tilt.

And it's the impact driver that seems most top heavy of the bunch on Bob's tools, could just be what I'm used to throwing my judgement.

I will say the mw magnetic bit holder for 1/4" screwdriver bits is the best one I've ever had, use it in my impact driver and its never broken, 2 years so far, hard use, dewalt lasted 2 hours. Just bought milwaukee drill bits that arrived this morning, about a fiver for 5mm so will see how they go.

I like the look of the Focus seats, can’t seem to find any locally though.

Today I made up half a break pipe as I couldn’t find the tool, then I couldn’t find the T pieces, and then couldn’t find the clips

Well I’ve made a little progress.

Front brake lines and clutch line made up.

i then started the clutch line which I’m not 100% happy with it needs some clips to hold it into place but it’s not horrendous.

Currently nothing really has a place and can’t really follow mk2 stuff as it’s so different but we’ll give it a go.

Clearance isn’t something we have a huge amount of, I think we’ll need some angry engine mounts.
    65CC1DD1-D910-4085-B2B5-9D03FD1BE2F3.jpeg

popped the coolant bottle and other little bits in place to try and figure out what will fit.

Power steering bottle doesn’t fit so may have to go for the corrado one.

    And then the temperature dropped.

I mean… this bit almost looks finished! I found a VW grommet that was perfect brake pipe size so I used that and then drilled a new hole for the res hose

need to tidy the wiring and plug it all in but it’s there and it actuates!!

Can you run clutch pipe up from inside and through the wiper void under scuttle, that's route my braided one went.
Great progress though, all in right direction

I did think about that but I’ve got some nice clips that would work perfectly

the way the corrado/g60 line routes is next to the brake lines, they have 3 way clips along the bulkhead to secure. you could just get some more 2 way clips and secure to one of the brake lines. theres a wee bracket on the side of the shifter cable to secure along the box.

Not the best pic but you can see the hydro line as it comes across

pas bottle you could just mount further forward same as the MK3, its only rubber hose to it so not hard to extend. or find a mk3 rack to bottle line which is already longer

the corrado one looks nicer though which is the important thing  note if you want the original washer bottle position you need a 90spec one if you use the corrado bottle in its intended position, but I expect all that would be where you want your airbox (mk4 golf bottle fits nice on the driver side) and for coolant tank may be easier on driver side as well but it depends what coolant hose set you have with the engine. the ibiza one is in the same spot as the mk2 for example

Tbh, the coolant tank was making me feel like I’d achieved something, it won’t stay there, washer bottle will be a bag somewhere as I probably won’t have space, the PAS bottle will probably have to be a corrado one in the corner.

I’ve got a few nice clips for the brake pipes so I’m not toooo concerned about them.

Well we now have a deadline, dad has taken on a Mk1 restoration project so he wants the garage back.

Meaning I need to at least get the Golf MOT’d.

So the list now is as follows:

    Plumb up engine
    Weld intercooler piping
    Finish front shafts
    Fit canchecked/get speedo working
    Make rear brake pipes
    Weld up fuel cell
Get wheels and tyres (let me know if you’ve got something)
Get a rear bumper then get ray to redo all the plastics
    Check everything for an MOT.

Then we can paint come summer time when it warms up as I don’t have an oven.

The deadline has now gone but I’m pulling my finger out.

    Fuel cell Thursday?

Started by playing with some scrap, getting the machine right as I still struggle setting it up. Then tacking it all together apart from the lid.

One well fitting, self holding box.

    91C45C93-4DF7-4DA1-BA15-A0EC5DEF4213.jpeg

It starts so well, then I get uncomfortable. I ran out of time and had to continue with keeping my child alive so we’ll finish up over the week.

Next up.. either turn one up out of Ali, buy one (if they exist) or bond in this one…

Get the piece turned out of weldable alloy and weld it to your fuel cell. Keep heat in check otherwise it will distort your box lid as the thicker piece will require some amps to melt ! We usually make strenghtening ribs on the rolling machine to stop flex...

I’ve got one on the way. For the price it was going to cost me to buy a piece and then cock it up with my limited lathe knowledge, it was well worth spending.

It’s nice and straight so far, I’ve only been doing a little bit each evening. 10/15 minutes

I was hoping my screw cap for the fuel cell would have been here by now but it still isn’t which is super frustrating. I was hoping to spend this weekend hopefully getting it running or really close to running.

In theory as it sits, it should move under its own power as a RWD mk2.
