Got some side trims. A little bit of work and they should be good as new.

i haven’t got a clue either other than MORE POWWWAAAA. I need to figure out the external wastegate thing, not sure how that works. Although I’m sure some research will bring up the results.

And a big thanks to @dodgy for the 9” Servo.

Made a start on it this afternoon after landing from Chile, with my new grinder of course!

It’s a bit cold to paint, so I’ll finish it off tomorrow and paint when it’s a bit warmer.

No worries buddy, glad it was ok for you.
Yet again the sticker is pretty good, reckon they should have made the arches on mk3s out of them.

Well I thought I’d modify my clocks..

    4484E639-1258-4D10-A13C-F8A2CC29EE7B.jpeg

    Stripped them both,

    3F153C1B-421D-416B-8C95-6E181F432673.jpeg

Got the faces off, problem 1:

    1007EA8B-4204-46A3-97CC-5AD24CE6AAFB.jpeg

what needs to fit into what hole,

    608874EC-2BFA-484E-886D-6D6A3F90914E.jpeg

then I decided I didn’t want to break my nice 16v clocks so I put it back together.

If anyone has any crap ce1 clocks they want rid of cheap, let me know! Or even just the speedo

    cleaned and primed.

    89269A8E-4A9B-4CA9-9FF6-5348A85C0A92.jpeg

    then tacked.

Then primed again to protect from rust whilst I’m away.

I deliberately held off on reading this thread until there were several pages of content.
I was NOT expecting to see such progress!
Well done Sam, straight in, no kissing.

You just can't beat a good build thread.

    Thanks!

Nope, no messing about. I just wish it wasn’t so far away so I could work on it more often. I’d be much further along if that was the case :(

Well with the shed almost finished, I should be able to get the BAM engine I bought out of the car, onto the stand and into the shed.

    One car full of crap,

    13E8D068-3F4F-4872-AC76-A834F4DDA98E.jpeg

I had to face one challenge though, undoing the flywheel with a tool that wasn’t deep enough, and not being able to get the tool by tomorrow lunch time.

I decided to improvise, I have a Halfords socket set that I use for cutting up and smashing onto things, well this came in handy!

I needed to get the bit out of the sockets, so out come mr grinder.

    C28368E9-05E6-405F-B7DE-09A37903D240.jpeg

And then was able to use a 14mm socket, lock the engine with my shit spanners and hey presto! Annoyingly, I do have the tool for this, at work.. along with my big impact gun.. but I’m not allowed there.

    819CA453-AAA3-4557-BAD7-BA25C01EA5FA.jpeg

Got there in the end, so now I can fit the stand plate, and off we go!

Well I started to strip the motor, I have to say, initially I was pretty happy but upon closer inspection, it’s pretty worn, sadly. I was hoping for a Chuck some rods in and be done with it but that’s not the case.

I’ll probably just bin the engine, not sure yet. It’s made me money so I’m not really fussed.

Renewart has outdone himself. I’m over the moon. I was realllyyyy struggling to find my front badge but he came through and for a tidy sum £60 posted to the UK.
