    Hi all
I bought this last week and moved my current project to my son .
I've aimed at having a car to use on track days for some time.
I also plan to drive to and around the Nurburgring for my 50th birthday .
    So here it is . 1990 MK2 3 door 16v
It's had some prep done for track and just needs a bit of extra work .
It will always remain road legal as I want to drive it to tracks , I'm not a massive show fan , don't mind the Bromley pageant bit that's about it .
I prefer to use the car
I've made a start doing the lights

Headlights and front indicators all working now .
Got to get Rear fogs done next.
    Then fix the following
    Sloppy gearlinkage (all parts ordered)
    Sticking rear calipers (fitting MK4)
    Fit seat belts
    Clean up discs
Adjust wheel bearings on rear .
Fit new fuel pump housing (044)
Fit new fuel filter and housing.
Re wire fuel pump under car (044)
Re wire Vr pump so gauge works
Replace windscreen with one from my stocks
    Get tailgate opening from outside
Cover roof in some kind of wrap

Get engine running better when cold .
    MOT
    Book trackday
    Take to track .
    Enjoy it

IMG_20200301_115434.jpg As you know Sam is building a 3dr Syncro .
I'm also helping him , and in-between showing him what's needed next and him doing it , I've started a few jobs on the car.
Re wired the fuel pump as the correct plug was missing , luckily I had a spare VR Pump plug .
    So that was attached.
Still more work to do on the fuel pump as it's
    • missing a fuel filter .
    • Has no mount
    • Has bad wiring onto the pump itself
So I've ordered 2x new mounts for the pump and the new fuel filter too.
One thing that concerns me is lack of swirl pot .
The car would have originally had the under floor pump with accumulator and swirl pot.
Now it's got the VR/ABF tank and pump and an 044 type pump under the car.
I do have a 16v pump and pot etc , but was saving it for Sam

    Thoughts ??

The car also has these discs all around. when you brake its really loud. almost like its still got lots of rust on the disc.
Are they running the correct way? this disc is R/R should the grooves run the opposite way? IMG_20200301_120043.jpg
    thanks Eddie

Finding a wire missing its home lead me to the coolant flange on the side of the head.
while checking it over i found a leak and another wire snapped off another sensor.
    cue a trip to Ebay
3x Febi Sensors and 1x Meyle (Couldnt find febi) coolant flange ordered

Half of me wants to pull the engine and box out , run through things, clean and replace where needed,
The other half wants to get my ABF out of storage. clean and ready that and install it.

I think the best course of action is to get the car through MOT. run it a bit and while doing that build up the ABF with new gaskets and seals etc . get an 020 flywheel to Martin for weight loss , then swap it all in one weekend .
