i have also just bought a mk3 cabrio, same reg year, dont want to sound patronising, but if you didnt know, roof only works with key in the ignition but in the off position, and also i have just had to change my ignition switch as i kept to loosing my ignition live circuits. 20 min job!

    Hi
Does anyone know if you can pop a mk3 soft top and mechanism onto a mk3.5? Recently purchased a mk3.5 but softop has been slashed. Local repair specialist in Swansea said the bonded window on the 3.5 is a nightmare, as a result nearly double the price to replace. Can get a decent mk3 roof and all the bits etc, but wondering if its a straight swap.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Probably too late now, but I have a very early mk3.5 but I have been told it has the roof from a mk3 which has the rubber seal rather than heat sealed. I have taken off the roof which had separated on the seam. I have a friend who was going to sew it up for me but found a replacement. It’s In pieces if any of it is any help to you?
