Hello, im new to the forum so thought i'd start off with a introduction of my current project, a dragon green Mk3 gti 8v. I've had mk1's, mk2 gti's, corrado vr6's etc, this is my first mk3 gti.
Plans are simple.... restoration, keep it looking standard ish, coilovers, poly bushed etc etc, and a 20v or possibly a tfsi conversion once all otherwork is complete, something for my spare time so wont be a quick project!
Lots of 20v questions to follow no doubt, but think i pretty much know what i need... i think!
Next job is the standard mk3 issue of needing 2 sill's and 2 wings, its just passed an mot but i want to make the sill's and wings perfect rather than patched.

    we all like pictures..

First job was the removal of an old and problematic conlog 900 alarm/immobiliser

Then I took the boy shopping, luckily he has the same taste as me so was happy with some mk3 recaro's in the correct cloth, exchanged out of a car for sale for my seats plus 75.

Thats where im upto, only bits missing were the thin outer sill trims, luckily vw still had some. Let the strip down begin... :)

In a complete opposite of priority's I purchased a US spec centre console, (a friend had one for sale, thought it would be a shame to pass up the opertunity)

Then a strip down of bumpers, trim, interior etc to start the welding and body repair, car needs both sill's, both front wings, some patches into the rear arches both sides and a little work to the floor.

    sill removed, jenolite applied
    [IMG]

    new sill trimmed ready
    [IMG]

Arch rust cut out, pieces cut and offered up. couldnt face fitting a full arch panel as the rest of the arch is mint, the car doesn't need it so patches it was.

Centre lower bumper bracket was rusted beyond repair, cut off.....

Outer section of floor stripped of underseal, jenolited and awaiting some small repairs

    next job .....
