    Hi
last week after half hour drive the v5 sounded like a diesel engine. Sounded really like a bearing was failing.
it was making this noise from idle to about 2500rpm.
I pushed on and got home as there were no dash warnings.

Went on a long drive today and after about half hour it did the same, so pulled over and the noise is definitely from the rocker and seems to be all along the rocker not just one area.
when I restarted I got the error on dash P0011 "A" camshaft position - timing over-advanced or system performance (bank 1).

I've had a look on some forums and it suggests that the oil is not getting up to the hydraulic cam adjuster.

Could the noise and the fault be an issue with it simply not getting oil up in the head for what ever reason? old oil, oil pump failing? As I said the noise goes at 2.5k rpm.

    Any help is really appreciated!!

Sounds like you have a damaged chain tensioner or a guide.
    What is the mileage?

    Hey. It's a 2002 with 115k

EDIT: just to add, it only does this when the engine is at normal running temp and after about 30 mins. I can stop the car and when I restart it's ok for a while before it returns.

A good fill of Petronas syntium 5k and a new filter did the trick.
