I highly recommend Tapco. There a sub company of Mackie, one of the best pro audio manufactures around. The Tapco use all the research and development from Mackie but use cheaper components. I've had mine for a year and am very very impressed, won't find anything better for the money! Oh, there active too which makes things easier!

Should check out my new mixes

Nothing like a bit of self promotion, lol!

Just gave it a listen mate, not a bad effort, some mixes were a bit loose and short though? Its a mission playing tunes you haven't listened to before though, played a few of my mates tunes when i was playing out the other day, hard to get the drops etc right! Tbh i never really listen to house, use to be into it ages ago! Where does your mrs DJ?

well she only started practicing at home 6 months ago.. had her first sort of gig in stevenage last saturday night, just an hour which went really well, didn't miss a beat and timed them all really well. She is practicing like mad with this vocal house as she really doesn't like it so not sure on how to mix it very well..... will post another mix after a weeks effort!!!

really like the breaks/electro set of yours, was listening to it earlier.....

she is playing on sunday night for www.dirtylittlefunkers.com in Walsal

Regarding amps and stuff. I use a NAD amp as doubles for my surround speakers/party amp as is not a dedicated one channel out job. Speakers are a minefield as if you want an all rounder there are a fair few. I chose wharfdales in the end as are VERY good quality and the sound is great be it as surround or monitors:)

out of curiosity - how does she find getting hold of tunes? used to be all the newest stuff was pressed on vinyl first but guessing its easier to burn off ya latest track straight to cd to be sent out to the spinners these days?

would love to add a couple cd dex to my set up - but way too expensive for me like.

well she has contacts at toolroom records that give her a lot of tracks for free, she also just contacts artists and DJ's direct and asks for them to play in her sets etc and then they tend to send her any new stuff they do etc...

she also gets some real decent house music for free off a polish site, I wrote about how to get to it in another post in this section.

Her pioneer's are awesome, such clever bits of kit. What do you tend to play??

Heres a few sites i use to use, all pretty good, best to fine a good record store near you though:

Just been reading a good interview with Nu:Tone, here's what he thinks of Vinyl etc

''Do you support vinyl or CD? And why?

I personally don't get much satisfaction out of DJing off CDs. I used to cut dubplates at Music House back in the day, then I switched and played almost 100% CDs when I started playing out a lot. After about a year or so, I switched back to vinyl and dubplates for a number of reasons. The first (and I think most important) is that the process of cutting vinyl/plates inherently involves a mastering engineer, and his studio full of very expensive mastering equipment. This one extra link in the process makes a huge difference to the quality of the music you play. Most importantly, it's a leveller if one track has too much bass, it will correct it. If another has harsh top-end, it will fix this too. The inherent limitations of the vinyl format actually contribute to a more pleasant listening experience.

The other major factor for me is that it makes me think seriously about what I want to play. When I played CDs, I would find myself playing new things just because they're new. If I had to spend xxx on cutting plate, I probably wouldn't have bothered. Obviously there are times where you need to try things out to see how they work in a club, but in that case I'll play a CD and then if I think it's worth it, I'll cut a dub as soon as possible.

Finally, there's the fact that the majority of the music I sell is sold on vinyl. It seems hypocritical to expect other DJs to buy and spin vinyl if I don't even play it myself''

Any way, i use CD's as i can't afford Vinyl any more, heres some good sites for digital music:
