Can somebody point me in the direction of a diagram or photo of the thin vacuum pipes on a Mk2 Golf GTI (Digifant '89)the ones that go from the intake manifold and the airbox etc. I have just swapped an engine and have none on at the moment. Any help appreciated.

ahhh, and for your next trick...

My recently aquired mk1 has obviously had some one playing around under the bonnet. Looks like they unplugged everything, swapped the head, then realised they didn't know where anything went. First bit that needs placing that I can't place is a vacuum switch, its wired, but neither end of the vacuum is plumbed in. The Haynes suggest its something to do with the fuel consumption, do we have any better offers?

Sorry to re-open an old post but I am looking to see if the item numbered 22 are meant to be seal plugs or tubes which go somewhere?
This excellent diagram seems to indicate that they could go to some type of regulator, would I expect to have this hidden on an 89' GTi? I am trying to track down a possible vacuum problem.

22 is just a blank, on all the digi MK2s I've seen its just a short length of vac tubing with a rivet stuffed in the end :)

I think it may be a bung. I have a line in that area which has a metal bung in it and I've seen many others with the same.

:) I have two short tubes with rivets so that sounds correct, OK I will keep looking for this possible vacuum leak. Cheers.

Good idea, I plan to check that everything matches that diagram as well and replace each one at a time. Should be a fun weekend with a oil pump change planned as well.[:s]

I seem to have part number 22 attached to the end of what I presume to be the MFA MPG clear hose?! It's coming through the bulkhead around the clocks area, and just terminates with this bung on the end around the right hand side of the throttle body.

I guess this is why I don't have a correct MPG reading!

There are two outlets there, the rhs goes to the airbox whilst the LHS is a bung or to the carbon filter device. Are you saying that the RHS is a bung and the LHS goes to the airbox?

the mpg hose should be attached to one of the outlets on the brake servo non-return valve, just to the right of the inlet manifold :)
