Thanks for sharing all this Bill, really interesting & useful ... not that I understand everything That Lupo TDI must be fun now ...
the 'arosa' is quite nippy yea, for a little tiddler of a car.. fun run about. mrsb likes it. i keep calling it a lupo too.. essentially is, but i prefer the front end of the arosa over the lupo's personally
If you dont mind me asking which software are you using for map editing? I spent a good few hours on the engine dyno at uni doing my project this year the drone of engine noise can make thought processes go mad also cant it.
winols is one of the tools used to manipulate the files its not me driving winols i might add, i am asking for the changes and what i want from logs and now the dyno's figures.. winols is more $$ than i can afford
Ahh ok, I've been learning how my engines controlled with the demo version of winols. It is many $$ and seemingly 100's of man hours need investing in it to become fluent with the use of it. But certainly a valuable tool to have.
along with a damos file which describes function and address locations.. if your fluent in technical german
Fortunately i've started learning on a simple msa15 file which doesn't need the damos to work it all out. But yes that is needed for more modern files. Being in hospital on my back for a while I've got some more time to kill and learn a bit more about it all. The couple of chip tuning forums seem to be growing now and helping people like me who just want to learn do that.
I'll agree with Bill there, Damos files are hard to get hold of Finding each section and setting up the Map locations does take hours, as bill knows theres then multiplies of each map for different reasons WinOLS is sensible price if its your only tool, I use an older version to deal with what I need. sorry for going back off topic- Thats a good result for a CC1, any other mods?
nope bog stock.. added a green panel filter and re-ran - zero difference.. opps ran a control car tonight to verify dyno in ramp runs vs steady state... book figures for this std car being 225ps/150lbft dyno seems pretty close to me.
Definitely seems accurate enough Bill. I like your honest open validation you've done here to show the world unlike many of the big guys out there.
Hi Bill, I've been having a good read of 'THE' dyno thread, all 6 pages! Whats the most powerful car you've had on your dyno yet? In about 5-7 weeks time, would you fancy seeing what my R32 Turbo has, I'm only an hour away from you but can only do Saturdays. Toffs
so far i've run 412bhp leon cupra as highest. mines not been on and its engine lives in new bits on vartious shelves currently-doh! saturdays are fine. bell me to confirm tho, its pretty busy, esp on weekends would be good running it who's conversion is on it? whats the expected power? regards bill
Its a VR6 Specialist turbo build, but everything else is me. Hoping 450-500bhp area, depends how much we crank up the Apexi The car is a bit like how yours is at the moment: in bits, having the turbo hotside and manifold ceramic coated. Will give you a buzz when its all back together in Nov.
yea.. mostly ok.. has its moments (pc wise) but that computers for you! I hate computers personally with a passion. flakey POS things, which are the bane of my life it seems. dyno's cool tho. luvin it
