very likely, and by the sounds of it you could have a f**ked coil.
the coil off the mk1 would probably work to test it too!
corrado g60 uses the same coil as all the mk2's! so cheap to test!

    Fingers crossed!
before you do, check for any arcing off the lead onto the other connectors. might be a f**ked lead.

    GOOD LUCK MATE [:D]

Gutting to hear all the problems your having with the car, but just roll with it hopefully it will be something small and you can just laugh over it then :)

You got a stunning car there dont go rushing into getting rid of it, you may regret it and be spilling more [:^(] of it

    Again GOOD LUCK

    cheers neath/alex.

swapped the coil for a known good one rick,no change.

looking more and more like the ecu,or maybe? just maybe the relay for the ecu...

    fatherless child [:x]

can you get hold of a ecu relay, did your rev counter start working again? is your masterlead ok? no arching anywhere?

    aye no arking rick.

the digital rev counter works (through mfa trickery) so i think its the clocks that are dodgy.

not looked into getting an ecu relay yet.

Just hotwire the relay to rule it out, piece of wire and 2 spade connectors..

ah,same idea as bypassing the mk1/mk2 relays then, cheers keith.

if it aint the ecu i think ill kick the fuck out of it.<beer talking? [:s]

its spent more time off the friggin road than on it,in six months of ownership [:x]

    new ecu turned up today.

    disconnected battery.
plugged in ecu and vac pipe.
    re connected battery.

it started and ticked over perfectly, left it a while and revved it up,perfect.

    disconnected battery.
took out the standard chip, and replaced with psd chip.
    re connected battery.

started up and instantly had the problem again.

    ah,must be the chip?
swapped it for the standard chip, started, still had the problem.
    [:s]

i then took apart both ecu's,

put the original superchip (which came with car) into the new ecu.

put the psd chip into the original ecu.

when swapping them round,it will run on the superchipped ecu and not on the psd ecu.

bear in mind all i have done is have it ticking over/revving in the unit.(lot of hassle to get it out)

un wrapped all the lambda loom to double check it (id spliced a new connector on before),all looked fine, wire next to sensor wire a little flaky...

wrapped it all back up anyway and then realised id left the wiring for the afr disconnected [:x]

just unwrapped it all again and bodged it up.
ive got headache from the fumes and my back is killing me.

    Sounds like good news!!!

So does the Superchip work in both ECU?

At least you now have the means to get to the bottom of the problem.

Hope you soon get back to enjoying Corrado ownership.

    thanks steve :)

the superchip only works in the new ecu,the standard and psd dont [:s]

i think the original ecu is dead as it dosnt work with either the standard chip or the psd chip.

and i dont really wanna try the currently working superchip back in the old ecu as it might kill it?

do you think the psd chip is killing ecu's?

    cheers,neil.

Are you 100% sure the chips in the right way round, if you fit the chip the wrong way the ECU is toast..

As Keith says as long as you fit the chip in the right way around it should cause no damage.

All the chip contains are 1's and 0's so provided it is the correct type and the right way around it shouldn't be able to damage an ECU.

Do the chips have the "window" in the top covered as UV light can erase the contents if open to light!

aye,all chips have been fitted the same way, with the little cut out facing the same way each time.

im an expert on fitting/removal of chips now,not that i wanna be [8(]

i dont know what to do now though?

what about the 110 quids worth of psd/sns chip?

why after using the psd chip in the new ecu did the problem come back? and when replacing with a standard chip it was still fecked? [:s]

i just dont get it man [:^(]

still got the lambda/injector wiring to tidy up before i can drive it but im not fussed tbh.
