Yeah the weber certanly has improved the response and revability, ive never red lined it though, it dosent feel as though it would be worth it! Mine has the twin downpipe as well which i belive helps a bit. Still got the crazy low geared 4spd box though, if i rev it hardish i can pull off in top! [:D]

    Mine was a 1.6 8V - it's my dad's now but it wasn't bad for a Polo. ;)

yeah you're right. I hadn't even noticed he'd put that. tut, tut Drew!

they were the highest power ones anyway, obviously there are more slower ones. mk4 GTIs are even pretty rare in Germany (something like 500 of them IIRC).

    People I know say there isn't really much difference between the mk4 1.4 16v & the mk5 1.6 16v GTI.

someone I know is currently planning on supercharging one. he's currently trying to blow up his 150k G40 engine so he has an excuse first.

also, he is doing a GT conversion into a mk2 for someone else first as well.

HH engine has got the combustion chamber in the head
HK and GK does have the chamber in the pistons
Basicly the HK is a HH block with GK head and different pistons.

GK has got a CR of 11:1 and 75 bhp, HK 55/54 bhp depending on country and the HH 60 bhp. The HH is mostly useded in Mk I Golfs
