I just think this topic might be useful for us as there are some parts that are not worht buying from Gsf etc, Il start with blue Temp sensor thats all i know about at the moment thanks. I hope this is of some use.
Head gasket - why not? GSF tend to sell Elring and Victor-Reinz head gaskets if you go for the better quality items. They are good makes. Not had any trouble with wheel bearings from GSF either. One thing I would advise to never buy from GSF however is the upper steering column bearing / ignition housing for the Golf MK2. Utter piece of crap!
agree with Trev, mine looked like it was made out of plasticine. Top mounts as heard the rubber goes quickly with the cheaper GSF ones.
Gearlever housing repair kit (the one under the car) Coolant flanges Thermostat (if you can get one from VW now ) Header tank all these parts arn't worth scrimping over for the effort it takes to swap em BTW non-genuine MANN oil filters are exactly the same as genuine ones
starter motors - tried 2 from them within 2 weeks before i paid the extra for a Bosch one... Anything in a white box...
hang on a bit..gsf sell bosch , the same as what the dealer sell id say track rod ends and ball joints, vag are slighlty more but last better
Wheel bearings Cam belt tensioners Anything else with a bearing in it Door handles (dont fit too well....... may have just got a duff one)
the dealer wont post, and you have to pay up 1st before they even order parts. think gsf are better than euro car tarts there rocco handbrake cable was 2 " too short. the gsf one perfect fit
