Hi all! Asking for your collective wisdom again. Can anyone tell me if the foam from the 6n Generation of the Volkswagen Polo is the same as the foam in a mk2 Recaro seat? Especially interested in the similarities for the side-bolsters in the backrest. I don't care about frames, I know they are different between the 6n and mk2 (mk3 seems to be the same as 6n). All I need from these seats is the side bolsters and perhaps the heating element. Thanks! PS. If the topic needs to be placed elsewhere, please let me know and move it. Thanks.
its all different I'm afraid. same as the mk3 golf recaros, the base is completely different more like a standard mk2/3 gti base so no chance of that stuff fitting. The backrests look similar but they're subtly different shape, but you never know the foam might still go in with a bit of coaxing. the mk2 recaro backrest and base bolster foams are the same as ford escort and fiesta though, so you shouldnt struggle to find bits if you hunt around
Yup, all different.... Bought the seats and took them apart. From front to back, it's mk2 Golf Recaro, Corrado Recaro and Polo 6N Recaro . I was able to use the centre of the Polo in my mk2, so at least I got heated seats now. The bolsters still need replacing, but I bought another 3 seats, hoping to get something out of those. If not, I at least got a bunch of fishnet headrests on the shelve.
Always get a lot of great knowledge here, so least I can do is share the answer when I found out myself. In other news.... Someone want to buy a bunch of seats?
