I'm currently in the initial stages of a Mk1 Golf (DX Engine) to Corrado 2.0 16v (9a) conversion, using the KE-Jet/Motronic injection from the Corrado and making sure I have all the right parts.

I'll be using a Scirocco 16v inlet to retain the air intake on the correct A1 chassis side.

I'll be using the 9a metering head, however, the metering head to throttle body boot (which needs to be Scirocco 16v specific) doesn't fit as its for the KR engine and the diameter of the 9a metering head flap/opening is smaller than that of the KR for some reason. Only by a few cm, but enough for ill fitting of the boot.

I have a spare KR metering head. Could I swap the fuel distributor unit off the 9a metering head, onto the KR metering head - or would that cause issues?

(I will be sending the injection parts off for refurbishment/testing etc prior to refitting if that makes any difference - i.e. a specialist company may be able to set it up correctly.)

if you still have it try the 8v boot, is a little smaller diameter. I used an 8v boot on a 16v metering head it was a bit of a stretch but got it on there and it fitted up to the 16v plastic pipes ok
the shape of the air cone will affect fuel delivery, but the system might be able to compensate for it but its not something that will have been done very often as most will just go with the full KR managment

The Scirocco 16v (KR) boot is unique unfortunately. Whilst it is the same diameter as the MK2 Golf 16v (KR) boot, it's one piece from the metering head to the TB and sweeps the opposite direction.

I have the 9a boot and original 8v which both physically fit but i'd need to make up some pipe work to the TB and it'll look a bit of a hash.

I've just realised the 9a Metering head has an electrical sensor on the side where as the KR doesn't so it's probably a non starter.

ah ok I assumed you were using golf rubber bits for some reason. yes you're right theres a sensor on the actual air flap bit isnt there, forgot about that. possibly a scirocco PL boot would go, not sure on the size though. are you reeeeealy sure you want the 9a management

You're right, the PL is different to the KR (Scirocco16V intake boot).

The PL is smaller than the KR so looks like it'll fit.

Of course the PL once is twice as much to buy [eek]
