I'll be swapping out my ECU for another used ECU next week. I have one small issue that I know is easily overcome but I cant for the life of me remember how to get around it. My old ECU is Immo off'ed and therefore do I actually need it's PIN as its effectively invisible to the instrument cluster? I've extracted the PIN number from the replacement ECU but I'm not sure what to do with the channel 50 adaptation as shown below. Mushy can you remember how we got around this when we matched your R32 ECU to my instrument cluster? The ECU taking on the PIN number of the clocks rings a bell so do I do the adaptation with the cluster PIN number?

Engine Control Unit (ECU) Swapping (USED ECU)

    Prerequisites:

    ## The REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU is installed in the car.
    ## Battery voltage at least 12.5 V.
    ## All relevant coding and adaptation values have been transferred from the ORIGINAL (OLD) ECU to the REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU.
    ## Make sure to have BOTH PIN's, from the ORIGINAL (OLD) and the REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU.
    ## Make sure to have the Radio Code (for factory radios only).

    [Select]
    [01 - Engine]

    [Login - 11]
For the following procedure, use the PIN of the REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU.

    ## 4-digit PIN ## The PIN needs to be entered as 5-digit number in the New Value box. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.

    [Do it!]

    [Adaptation - 10]
    Enter 050 in "Channel Number".
    [Read]
For the following procedure, use the PIN of the ORIGINAL (OLD) ECU.

    ## 4-digit PIN ## The PIN needs to be entered as 5-digit number. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.

    [Test]

    ## The values may change to "32000", this is normal

    [Save]
    [Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

    ## Switch OFF the ignition and let the car sit for ~1 minute, then switch ON the ignition again.
    ## Verify that the REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU now shows the VIN and if supported IMMO-ID of the vehicle now.
    ## Verify that the REPLACEMENT (USED) ECU has the same Coding as the original unit, or code it from scratch using the repair manual or coding chart in VCDS when applicable.

    Yes that's it
And yes you'll need both pins like we did when you fitted mine
I still have the pin for your clocks
And have the link on how to work out the pin on the new ECU with vag- commander

The new ECU PIN I have as I dumped the Immo 3 EPROM with VAG-CAN

I still have a note of my cluster PIN from when we matched your R32 ECU for testing so is that all I need then? So to confirm I use my cluster PIN when doing the Channel 50 adaptation? (As this is what the Immo3 cluster wants to see, to allow login, so that it will pair with the already logged in replacement ECU)

aye you log into the new ecu with the pin you got with vag can commander
then enter the one from your clocks in the Channel 50 adaptation

Aha sorted then. I seemed to remember that's how it worked but I wasn't 100% sure. I still have those solenoids sitting for you when you get around to needing them - I've not forgotten

Aye I'm up for it when its' been re-werked - I'm hoping Eddie can work his usual magic with it. It does sound a bit different with the Millies compared to the other R32s tho.
