Hi my tailgate doesn't seem to want to lock unless I slam the tailgate, I've taken off the lock and it seems to be working perfectly
screw in the 2 rubber buffers slightly, adjust position of striker, give the lock block a good squirt of spray lube and work it till it moves nice and free
I had the same problem with my Mk2f Polo recently. Problem turned out to be that the moving parts on the linkage between the lock and the latch had got a bit sticky. With the inside trim panel off, a few squirts of WD40 and working the joints by hand for a minute or so solved it.
