I was stood at work today (my 2nd job) bored out my face when my cousin pops in. He asks me to come round the back of the shop as he has a suprise for me....

Got round to the back and there it is! His new car - the new Polo GTI. He took me out in it, we were only out for about 15 minutes but my first impression was a big

It sticks to the road, the official 0-60 figure is a bit conservative. The power is available from the bottom of the rev range and it really pushes you back in your seat when you put your foot down.

The noise is just something else, they have definately got it right! The exhaust note is perfect and you can hear the turbo spinning up (it made me grin [:D] ).

After taking it down the dual carriageway we went back into town, everyone just stopped and stared at the car.

I will hopefully get some pics up tomorrow (I didn't have a camera on me at the time [:^(] )

Lets hope they bring out the 180bhp stripped out version

    Im still grinning now :p

Sounds very interesting, I'm currently waiting for my local dealer to get one in for a test drive. Although I think the best combination could well be the 1.4TSI engine!

Oh and hurry up with those pics.... :)

I raelly want a new Polo GTI. Great option for a budget Golf GTI, similar styling for 3/4 the price.

AutoCar didnt give it a great write up. Saying its way better than it predecessor, but still not as good as some of the competition in this area. Plus the Ibiza Cupra is cheaper and has more grunt.

Nasty seats and the other bits you mention? You dont like the Golf GTI either then? The interior trim is taken from the Mk1 Golf in the 70s, the classic GTI Tartan trim.
