Before I fire the engines back into the 2 Mk2's, I was wondering is there any tangible benefits in fitting a thermal insulating manifold gasket? known as a phenolic insulator? The claims run from ridiculous to no difference.

    Anyone any experience? 8v, preferably.

As high temperatures are a power killer...a phenolic insulator was fitted on the Audi A80 / A4 Super Touring ( STW) engines, with that in mind, if there is no gain, it would not be used ...

Cheers Hugo. I'm trying to get a local company to ceramic coat the exhaust manifold, if that fails I'll wrap it.
