    I'd drop back there later with a six-pack if I were you ;) .

Glad you got it sorted, bet you'll see quite a few more m's per g now. And less smoke out the back.

    Hello muppet9966,

Not such a muppet after all then !

Really pleased you've got it sorted - those adjustable timing lights can be fun - especially when you accidentally turn the dial without realising it - time the engine - and it runs like a dog - then you realise and have to start all over again lol.

Can you post details of the garage please.

    Many Thanks

    Andy

Yeah maybe I should change my screen name now!!
The timing gun I have has buttons and a display - borrowed it from a work neighbour.
The garage is a small independent place:
Harwood Auto repairs, Unit 9 Perivale New Business Centre,
    Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex UB6 7LF

I thought 30 quid wasn't a bad price to set it up... free is even better!

You should get 40 mpg from a driver, unless you're stuck in traffic all the time.

I don't think I've ever set the timing without doing that by mistake at least once.[:$]

Thanks, my son is down that way and runs a fairly high-mileage MK2 GTi. We so most of the work ourselves (still learning from mikehorsb & rubjonnny) but it's always good to know a local place that doesn't rip you off.
