Hi all. Just bought a new rad with a twin fan set up. I currently have a single fan with the same type plug on it. I was told to wire the new fans in parallel and after looking online I still can’t get my head around it! What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks
They're usually independent. But in parallel, you just link the positive wires to each together, and the negatives together, and then connect to the original fan supply. Starting the 2 of those will put a pretty serious load on, you'll need a pretty hefty fuse.
Thanks. Is it better to wire them independently and how would I do that? Ican never get my head around electrics.
Seems a bit much. I got for my jetta a 200w fan and measured 6A current draw, and it is a big motor. If they really eat 8A each add a relay a big spade one like the x-relief from fuse box. Current one has one speed? Would be nice to have 2 speed like series for first and parallel for max. That is if they run on 6v. This is a simple wiring for them, 2x40a relays.
The oem fan fuse is 30amp, so it can handle those no problem. Just tap both fans into the red/white and brown wires from the old fan plug, simples.
