Amazing first picture! Ask him how he gets the clarity in a shot like that.

    Wow those pics are amazing!

P.S. Has the clunk gone that you had at the start of the day?

All gone Gurds thanks, didn't hear it at all on track or on the way home so looks like you & chris fixed it.

Yes the pics Ewan took are amazing, he brought some equipment with him (remote flash stands etc) and has been doing photography for many years.

Here is the blog he has done on the newport edition site:

Went to Volksfest Wales yesterday, was a bit of a washout but luckily we blagged ourselves indoors before the heavy rain and the organisers followed suit and got a lot more cars indoors, it was a mega mk1 meet indoors lol.

Pics on the mk1 owners club here so far:

Even though we didn't enter any show and shine, because everyone had made an effort to make a show between them indoors after it was opened up they voted on the cars indoors and we had a 1st for mk1 tintop lol :-)

Classic volksfest judging, the winning mk1 was full of rust and had a dented door! The organisation was p155 poor and the parking a shambles considering it was half flooded on a grass parking area.
Your mk1 looks awesome, the show was a shambles, worst theyve done!

That is the thing martyn, if we hadn't had the balls to take over the internal arena it would have been a pretty naff show.

I gave up trying to find anything outside to look at.

on the plus side when the weather turned bad everyone came indoors to see all the mk1's lol.

Would have been nice to meet you againt Martyn, must have missed you.

Saw the mk1 heading for the gate as I passed on the way home yesterday, car looked great even from that distance. It was ****ing down on each of the four occasions I passed thd show ground over the weekend so I gave it a miss.

Car's looking great, Mike. Any plans to bring it to Curby on Sept 9th... either to run on the track, or just for the rest of us to drool over? I promise to wear a bib and not dribble on the car!

    Hi mate

Thanks for asking and the interest.

Sadly i think retro rides gathering at prescott hill climb on the 19th of aug will be our last show maybe for this year.

I am going into hospital for an operation on sep 4th and i will need recovery time and driving is down as something not to do for a while after.

On to the next event.....and what an event!!!!

    Retro Rides Gathering at Prescott

We were down as a guest car and have to say it was an amazing show/event.

We were there with Chris Eyre who brought along his ex racing mk1 golf and he helped us out making sure our golf was and checking it for us during the event doing a few things on our car.

We had our own paddock section where there was a great variety of cars in the guest paddock and cars of all makes and sizes dotted all around us up on hills and under the trees. It made an amazing sight and the hospitality and the team running the event were very good.

I will pop up photos of ours here that we have collected from photographers albums (cheers all involved).

    Mine and Chris parked up:

Big thanks to all involved with the event.

Huge thanks to Chris Eyre who kept an eye on the running of our car and also took us out in his mega mk1.
