Wooohoooo, well my dub is back on the road!! After a lot of hassle from VW they finally found the fault. It turned out to be the ignition coil, because it was so intermittent it was virtually impossible to tell until if failed altogether on the technician test driving it!! hehe he had to get towed back. Anyway after a lot of unecessary work and hassle the car is running again now. Now onto the important things, brakes, handling and performance Cant wait to slap on some coilovers and start really enjoying the car! Big thankyou to everyone for their help and suggestions, really appreciated!!
vw 8v gti, The best thing that i recommend is to clean out the throttle body with some carb cleaner and clean your MAF sensor which is situated just back from your air filter where the electronic switch wires go into (use a old toothbrush/ soft brush). There use to be a thread on here of how to do this. Had the same prob on my mk3 @ 3500-4000revs. But once i cleaned it WOW! what a difference. Let me know how you get on Regards Steve
thank god for that !! when im back in bham, ill have to show you mine (my car), with a bit of tlc it can be a bit of a monster
