Evening all I've recently put a g60 engine in my MK2 golf, when I bought it it came with a 020 gear box same as my MK2,I know this isn't the greatest setup but it will have to do for now however I've got the engine running lovely but can't get any gears and there is a friction type noise coming from the bell housing. Does anyone have any ideas as to were iive dropped the ball on this one cheers

Got all the free play out of the clutch cable? Sometimes there's loads. Aim for 2 or 3 mm slack at the cable to box interface IMHO

if its an automatic adjuster cable sometimes they dont reset correctly, there is a procedure to fix it but I would just put a new manual cable on it. ask for an 89 1.6 mk2 cable that should do you, reg F930 FDT
