What is this gearbox sensor?

    This sensor has broken off while transporting our mk3 vr6 gearbox. What is it please?

    Actually, it looks like it has come off from here. Reversing sensor?

    Yep that's the reversal sensor/contact. It came off on my GB too, but it can be mounted back quite easily. I measured with the voltmeter and it still works :)

    Yes, on the diff.

    Got to be the VSS if its on the diff. part of the gearbox.

    Yes, got to the bottom of it. It is indeed the speedo connection. I need to use a mk2 1.3 cable to connect it to the cluster. I’m pretty sure this is already what we have with the box we have on the car (I forget what box it is connected to the AGG).

    I am very curious about why the slave cylinder is mounted on the diff, as far from the clutch as possible. Or is it just (external) mounting?
