My mk4 1.8T also has 120k and for the last 3 oil changes its running 'Fuchs' fully synthetic oil from GermanSweedishFrench car parts.

They come in 4 litre bottles which is around 20 which isn't bad.

Castrol Edge TD 5W-40 advanced synthetic engine oil (seems to be only TD for 5w40) Price: 37.28 inc vat

Furry muff - prefer Castrol myself - I guess it comes down to what you use your car for

now that i have (in theory) stopped all the oil leaks, i might go back to using slightly more expensive oil. i currently run mine on fuchs 10w40 semi, 13-14 for 5L. if the oil now stays in the engine ill go back to a 5w40 fully synth.

mine is 99% road use, occassionally i get to thrash it a bit

I track mine a lot, hence the more expensive oil - leaks are a big no-no on tracks
